A holistic approach to grants consulting
One of my favorite sayings in grants administration is: "it depends".
Because not every grant is the same, not every funder has the same protocol, not every organization has the same skills or capacities, and--here's the big one--not every federal funding policy applies uniformly across funders and grantees.
The answer of "it depends" is the good grant administrator's way of thinking about how to get the awardee to "yes" while remaining compliant.
When program decisions are made, this initiates a chain reaction that affects stakeholders, funders, finance, and compliance. Program decisions do not operate in a vacuum and each action affects the next equally--and if thoughtfully executed, synergistically. Working in the mindset of "getting to yes" not only satisfies you, the awardee, but forces the administrator to consider all programmatic and compliance areas before executing an objective.
This holistic approach to grants management will afford you the most fruitful outcome every time. So while it is common practice to divide services into pre and post award activities, my support will always be guided by this holistic approach, getting you to "yes", while connecting the dots to your grants management solutions.
